When writing a note to a client recently, I found myself wrapping it up as I often do, by signing it from “the Trapeze Team.” And for whatever reason that particular day, it spurred a moment of gratitude and thoughtfulness about how truly wonderful it is to be part of a team.
The words “team”, “teamwork” and “team player” can be overused buzzwords in the corporate world. But I’ve found, that a real team of people can offer something extremely meaningful and impactful in daily business and personal life. If one has participated on any sports teams, the analogy reveals itself right away—train and practice hard at what you do, always strive to improve, support one another, and keep the competitive edge to elevate as a group and as individuals. Our creative team is no different.
In what is becoming rare in our industry as creative media professionals, our team continues to work together on site at a single location. We do this for a variety of reasons—technical, legal, financial—but above all, we find that having the creative team in one place serves our clients in the most professional and timely way, and serves our team in a variety of aspects as well.
For our clients, our set business hours allow for efficiency and timely production schedules that coincide with real-world deadlines. There is consistency, knowing our full-time staff is here for them should there be an emergency need or last-minute request for broadcast and live events. And, notably, they have the power and focus of multiple minds and resources at any given time dedicated to their projects. Time and time again, I’ve received sincere appreciation for the value we provide in serving our clients with the creative team approach.
Likewise, for our internal team, the support we provide to one another is key. One can take vacation and personal time away, knowing their projects are in good hands and moving forward. Other professional wins include creative support, sharing ideas in real time, learning and exploring new tools together, and group problem-solving. But there is the personal side—things that make work life rewarding–celebrating birthdays, life events, happy hours, holidays, family picnics and team outings. All of this adds to both the daily experience, as well as the trust built within the group.
In whereas video production, motion graphics and many other creative positions have largely become a freelance endeavor, I’m both proud and happy to say, for the last 25 years Trapeze has been a true team, and we will continue the commitment of bringing that value to all of you as we carry onward.
